Recovering Missing Chat History
The most common reason for missing history is that your chats were tied to a Guest account. These anonymous accounts are local to your device and can be lost if the app is reset.
How Chat History Works
Signed-In Users (Apple Sign-In): Your history is securely backed up to your account. It survives app reinstalls, signing out, and moving to a new device.
Guest Users (Anonymous): Your history is tied only to that specific installation of the app. It is preserved only as long as you do not sign out, delete the account, or uninstall the app.
Common Scenarios
If you signed out as a Guest: Unfortunately, once a guest signs out, that anonymous account is permanently deleted from the device. We cannot recover this history. To avoid this in the future, please use Sign in with Apple.
Missing on a second device: Guest history does not sync between devices. If you are a guest on your iPhone, your iPad will appear as a fresh, empty account.
The Fix: Use Sign in with Apple on both devices using the same Apple ID. Your history will then sync across your entire ecosystem.
Still Missing After Signing In?
If you are signed in with Apple and your history has vanished, this is an unusual technical issue. Please email info@chaticon.co with the following details:
The Apple ID used for the account.
The last date you successfully viewed your history.
Whether you recently selected "Delete Account" in settings.
